In 905, in the precinct of Dazaifu Tenmangu,Yasuyuki Umasake built a shrine for Michizane Sugawara. A center piece of the shrine overlooking Shinjiike is the Taikobashi, composed of three sections: an arched bridge representing the past, a flat bridge representing the present, and an arched bridge representing the future.
